Walnut Creek, Calif. - In a vote by the conference coaches, Stanford women's tennis players Lauren Barnikow (Woodbridge, NJ) and Erin Burdette (Jackson, GA) were named the Pac-10 Women's Doubles Team of the Year, while teammate Amber Liu (La Mesa, CA) was selected as the Freshman of the Year. The Cardinal also had four athletes represented on the All-Conference teams.

Stanford's tandem of Barnikow and Burdette is the country's top doubles team and posted a 27-4 overall record thus far. The duo also finished Pac-10 play at 16-2 and suffered only two losses in dual competition to stand at 18-2.

Liu is the fourth ranked singles player in the country, and played the top singles spot for the Cardinal this year. She holds a 24-10 overall mark and a 14-6 record in dual matches. She was also Stanford's representative on the All-Pac-10 First Team.

Barnikow was joined by freshman Alice Barnes (Cambridge, UK) on the Second Team. Barnikow, currently ranked No. 16, has a 26-11 overall mark and finished 16-5 in dual competition as the Cardinal's No. 2 player. Barnes is ranked No. 11 in singles, holding a team-leading 35-4 overall record. She has played No. 4 for Stanford all season, not loosing a match in dual play (21-0).

Aside from being named the Doubles Team of the Year, Burdette was selected to the Honorable Mention squad. As the No. 3 player and currently ranked No. 27, she stands at 25-8 overall. Burdette also cruised in dual matches, holding a 18-3 mark.

Stanford will host the First and Second Round matches at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium this weekend. Michigan will battle Colorado at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 9, while the Cardinal will open defense of their back-to-back titles against Louisiana-Monroe at 2 p.m. The winners will then play on Saturday, May 10 at 2:30 p.m.
