Stanford, Ca - The third-ranked Stanford men's water polo team placed seven different players in the score book as the Cardinal stopped Pacific, 17-4, in a Mounain Pacific Sports Federation game on Saturday at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
Tony Azevedo was Stanford's chief offensive threat. Azevedo, the two-time NCAA Player of the Year, scored four of his five goals in the first half, scoring two goals each in the first and second periods as Stanford built a 9-1 lead going into halftime.
The Cardinal added three more goals in the third period and added five more in the final period. Greg Crum and Mike Derse each scored three goals. Goalies Chad Taylor and Beau Stockstill combined for nine saves.
Stanford travels to California on Sunday (11/9, noon).
