Pacific Defeats San Francisco In NCAA Volleyball First Round

Stanford, Calif. - Middle blocker Jennifer Joines had a match-high 21 kills as the Pacific women's volleyball team defeated San Francisco, 3-0, tonight at Maples Pavilion in an NCAA First Round match. Game scores were 30-26, 30-28, 30-23.

Pacific advances to the second round to face the winner of the Stanford vs. Sacramento State match.

The Tigers improve to 18-13 on the year while the Dons end their season with a record of 23-8.

Joines recorded a match-high 23.5 points on the night which included a team-high four blocks. Ashley Groothuis chipped in 15 kills while Stevie Mussie led the match with 19 digs. As a team, Pacific hit. 314 with a match-high 69 digs.

For the Dons, Teresa Russell led the squad with 18 kills and four blocks while hitting .459 on the evening. Brittanie Budinger added 11 kills and a team-high 14 digs. Theresa Hart chipped in 12 digs to the effort. San Francisco hit .220 for the match with six service aces.
