STANFORD, Calif. - The sixth-ranked Stanford men's tennis team (13-2, 1-0) opened Pac-10 play with an impressive 5-2 road win over previously undefeated Washington (14-1, 0-1) on Friday afternoon at Bill Quillian Stadium in Seattle.
The Cardinal concludes this brief two-match trip at No. 56 Oregon on Saturday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. in Eugene.
With the Cardinal leading 3-2,sophomore Phil Sheng (Thousand Oaks, CA) clinched the win over the ninth-ranked Huskies with a thrilling 6-2, 7-5, 7-6 victory over Dillon Ruby at No. 6 singles.
Stanford also received singles victories from senior James Pade (Woodside, CA) at No. 5.
