TEMPE, Ariz. - The sixth-ranked Stanford men's tennis team completed a weekend road sweep with a 5-2 win at Arizona State on Saturday afternoon in Tempe. The Cardinal, which defeated Arizona 6-1 on Friday for the 1,000th win in program history, improved to 10-2 on the season.
Stanford won four of the six singles matches against the Sun Devils (4-6), including three in straight sets. Senior David Martin (Tulsa, OK) was a 7-6 (3), 6-1 winner at No. 2, freshman KC Corkery (Manhattan Beach, CA) won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 and sophomore Sam Warburg (Sacramento, CA) prevailed 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.
The Cardinal also won the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2. At No. 1, fifth-ranked Scott Lipsky (Merrick, NY) and Martin defeated 43rd-ranked Olivier Charroin andChris Stewart 8-5.
The Cardinal now takes a two week break for final examinations, and will return to action on Monday, March 24 when it hosts No. 32 Harvard at 12:00 p.m. at the Taube Tennis Center.
