Tempe, Arizona - The Stanford men's golf team shot a 279 in the final round of the ASU Thunderbird Invitational to tie for seventh overall with a three-round score of 20-under par 844. Arizona State took top honors in the tournament with a 824, followed distantly by Southern California (832). Rounding out the top five were Pepperdine (835), TCU (836) and Oklahoma (840).
Stanford was led by senior golfer Jim Seki who posted a nine-under par 207 to tie for seventh. Freshman Kyle Gentry shot a six-under par 210 to tie for 24th overall. Teammate Kevin Blue fired a one-under par 215 to tie for 48th while senior George Downing carded a 216 to tie for 53rd. Blake Mastalir tied for 71st with a 219 .
TCU's David Schultz carded a 15-under par 201 to take top individual honors while USC's David Oh finished three strokes back (204) to finish second. Chris Nallen, from Arizona, and Greg Machtaler, from BYU, tied for third at 11-under par 205. ASU's Chez Reavie and Brady Stockton tied for fifth (206).
