Tucson, Ariz. - The Stanford women's golf team shot a final round of 296 today to finish sixth at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Arizona. The Cardinal turned in a three-round score of 904 for the tournament. Vanderbilt took top honors shooting a 869, followed by Ohio State (289), UCLA (874), California (884) and UNLV (897).
Freshman golfer Lauren Todd fired a final round of one-under par 70 to move up to a tie for 11th individually to lead the Cardinal (78-72-70--220).
"I shot well today," said Todd. "I was happy to play, and I improved every day so I thought that was a little unusual after round one. I hit a lot of greens, so it was real easy today.
"I had an awesome time," she continued. "The whole team loved it. I really enjoyed the course. I'm from Phoenix so it reminded me a lot of home which was nice."
Senior Kim Kouwabunpat placed 17th with a 223 (70-79-74). Sophomore Kelly Husted tied for 37th overall with a three-round score of 231 (83-74-74). Teammate Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana tied for 40th just a stroke back with a 232 (79-75-78). Sophomore Stephanie Lue, competing as an individual, finished a stroke behind Tangtiphaiboontana and tied for 42nd with a 233 (77-77-79). Rounding out the Stanford athletes was senior Angela Rho, who tied for 52nd with a 238 (81-79-78).
May Wood from Vanderbilt won individual medalist honors after carding a four-under par 209 for the tournament. California's Sophia Sheridan placed second with a one-under par 212. Rounding out the top five individual finishers were Ohio State's Allison Hanna (214), Vanderbilt's Courtney Wood (216), Arizona's Erica Blasberg (217) and UCLA's Hannah Jun (217).
The Cardinal will be back in action at the PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Arizona, April 2-4.
