No. 10 Stanford Fall To UC Santa Barbara 3-1

Stanford, Calif. - The 10th-ranked Stanford women's softball team fell to UC Santa Barbara, 3-1, in the final game of the Stanford Round Robin Tournament this evening at the Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium in Stanford, Calif. The Cardinal are now 20-7 overall while the Gauchos improve to 14-20.

UCSB scored all three runs in the top of the third inning with two outs.

Stanford scored one run in the bottom of the sixth as Lauren Lappin walked to open the inning. Jessica Allister was hit by a pitch and Meghan Sickler hit a bloop single to right field to load the bases. Leah Nelson singled to right to score Lappin.

Dana Sorensen (11-4) took the loss for the Cardinal, allowing three runs on five hits over seven innings with four strikeouts. Carly Harmon picked up the win, pitching five plus innings with one earned run on four hits. Jennifer Davis recorded the save after two innings of scoreless work.

Meghan Sickler led Stanford with a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Leah Nelson went 1-for-2 with an RBI as well.

The Cardinal are back in action on Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. with a doubleheader against Fresno State at the Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium.
