ATHENS, Ga. - Stanford's fourth-seeded Amber Liu has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2004 NCAA Singles Championship at the University of Georgia after tallying another win on Wednesday.

Liu, the 2003 NCAA Singles Champion, downed Sacramento State's Margarita Karnaukhova in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 in the Round of 16. The seventh-ranked Liu will take on Audra Falk of Vanderbilt in quarterfinal action on Thursday.

Cardinal sophomore Alice Barnes fell to Fresno State's third-seeded Jelena Pandzic 6-2, 6-2 in the Round of 16 to be eliminated from the Tournament.
