Evanston, Ill. - Senior outside hitter Ogonna Nnamani tallied a match-high 23 kills as the 13th-ranked Stanford women's volleyball team swept Villanova, 3-0, at the Wildcat Classic, this evening in Evanston, Ill. Game scores were 30-21, 30-23, 32-30. The Cardinal improve to 6-2 on the year while the Wildcats fall to 3-5.
Stanford hit .357 in game one as a team while the 'Cats hit .054. Katie Goldhahn notched five digs while Ogonna Nnamani tallied five kills. Lizzie Suiter posted three blocks as the Cardinal defeated Villanova 30-21 in game one.
O. Nnamani tallied 10 kills on 17 attempts in game two as Stanford hit .359 for the game. Villanova hit .154 and were outblocked four to one. The Cardinal won game two 30-23 as Leahi Hall pickede up six digs.
Stanford hit .306 in game three as Villanova hit .205. O. Nnamani led the team posting eight kills while Jennifer Hucke added five. Kristin Richards picked up six digs as the Cardinal closed out the match with a 32-30 in game three.
Sophomore Kristin Richards notched a match-high 14 digs on the evening, adding nine kills and three blocks to the cause. Lizzie Suiter led the match with six blocks, followed by O. Nnamani's five blocks. Franci Girard and Jennifer Hucke chipped in six kills each.
The Wildcats were led by Kacy Sellers' 13 kills and Sam Hartwell's 12 digs.
Stanford closes out tournament play tomorrow in a 7 p.m. CT match against host Northwestern.
