Opening Statement: Right now we realize we've got a lot of work to do. I'm very encouraged with a lot of things I saw. There were some adjustments we would have liked to make but were not able to. But there are no excuses and I've never been one to make excuses. We'll reassemble back tomorrow and look at our situation. We've got a lot of young players and we put them on the spot a little bit. Stanford has a good defense. We'll be better because of this on down the line. We look at this thing as a war and Stanford won the first battle. We'll focus on the next ten. I saw a lot of good things out there. Our guys never quit. We had a chance early but our mistakes really hurt us. The blocked field goal was a momentum setter for us. There were a lot of mistakes. I thought our defense competed very hard considering the adjustments we had to make. We hope to get everything corrected and be ready for our home opener in two weeks. I saw some good things in both of our young quarterbacks and they will continue to improve this week. They're both very athletic guys and they both made some plays. We saw some good things. We think we will be ready for our home opener.
On the suspended players: It's not just one thing. It's a process that I hope we can get corrected. I'm not one to point fingers on anyone. We just did not perform tonight. I get what I get and that's what I'm responsible to handle. That's not the way I know we can play.
Stanford Head Coach Buddy Teevens
On the win:
"It was our first ballgame and we did some nice things. It was a clean game, I think we had one penalty through three quarters. Operationally, it was really clean. We didn't convert a couple of opportunities in the first half that we thought that we could have. The game was tight and they played hard. In the second half we were a lot more efficient, bringing an extra tight end in and running the ball effectively. I thought the defense was very positive early on. I thought they played hard, but we need to improve our ability to tackle. Overall it was good."
On play of Trent Edwards:
"I thought Trent Edwards made some good decisions, showed some leadership ability and I admire that because it's developed in him. He feels comfortable operating the team."

On the win:
"We knew we had to really come out of the gate in the second half. The coaches talked to us at halftime and wanted us to get the ball downfield and keep making plays. Fortunately, we were able to do that and the outcome is exactly what we wanted."
Stanford wide receiver Evan Moore
On the one-handed touchdown reception:
"I was supposed to get outside and the defender just darted outside, so I brought it inside hoping that Trent (Edwards) would know where I was. Trent and I developed a connection over the summer that allowed that play to happen. It was a result of lots of work in the off-season with Trent. He put it up high, and it was a perfect pass. He expects me to make that catch and that's just stuff that's not scripted but develops over time."
