Lake Forest, Ill. - The Stanford men's golf team shot a 17-over 301 in the first round of the Windon Memorial Classic at the Conway Farms Golf Course in Lake Forest, Ill. The Cardinal are currently tied for 10th place on the leaderboard. LSU leads the field with a 287, followed by Duke (291), Minnesota (293), Northwestern (294) and Kent State (294).
The second round was called due to darkness as most teams have two to three holes left. Play will resume tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. Round three will begin immediately upon conclusion of round two without repairings.
Golden Gopher Bronson LaCassie fired a two-under par 69 to sit atop the individual leaderboard. LSU's Chris Wells and Kent State's Peter Laws are tied for second with a one-under 70.
Freshman golfer Rob Grube is tied for 16th overall after shooting a two-over par 73, along with teammate Pat Phillips. Senior Kevin Blue carded a 77 and is tied for 51st after round one. Junior Scott MacDonald check in tied for 59th with a 78 while sophomore Zack Miller is tied for 81st with an 82.
The first round of play took five and a half hours.
