Stanford, Ca. - Tony Azevedo scored three goals to lead the second-ranked Stanford men's water polo team to a 14-7 victory over #15 Pacific in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federeation game on Saturday at the Avery Aquatic Center.
With the score tied at 2-2 with 3:42 in the first period, the Cardinal reeled off eight straight goals to take a 10-2 lead with 2:02 left in the first half. Azevedo scored three of those goals.
Peter Varellas, Ryan Fortune, Tyler Drake, Thomas Hopkins and Greg Crum each scored twice for the Cardinal to up its season record to 17-3.
Pacific, 5-16, was led by Dragan Bakic with three goals.
Stanford hosts Long Beach State on Sunday at noon.
