Jessica Allister Homers Twice in 5-2 Win Over Missouri

Stanford, Calif. - Senior catcher Jessica Allister homered twice as the No. 10 Stanford softball team defeated Missouri, 5-2, this afternoon to advance to the championship game of the Stanford Invitational. The Cardinal improve to 7-1 overall while the Tigers fall to 2-7 on the year.

Stanford will take on Santa Clara tomorrow at Noon in the championship game. Missouri will play Pacific at 10 a.m. in the third-place game.

The Cardinal got on the board first when Lindsay Key singled up the middle to score Heather Shook who had also reached base on a fielders choice. Elizabeth Bendig would then score on Jacki Hansen's ground out.

Stanford scored two more in the third inning Catalina Morris scored on a wild pitch. Jessica Allister then homered to right centerfield.

In the bottom of the sixth, Allister would homer again with a shot to leftfield.

Allister went 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI. Lindsay Key had a 1-for-3 effort with an RBI. Katherine Hoffman and Catalina Morris also picked up a hit each.

Dana Sorensen (3-1) was a winner in the circle, scattering three hits over 6.2 innings with three strikeouts. Missouri's Erin Kalka took the loss for the Tigers, allowing four runs and five hits over three innings pitched.

The Tigers were led by Sarah Stringer's two hits.
