LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The top-ranked Stanford women's tennis team defeated No. 63 Loyola Marymount 6-0 at Manhattan Country Club on Friday afternoon. The Cardinal swept singles play and the doubles matches were cancelled due to the rain.
The match was delayed two hours due to the rain, but after the delay, the teams started with singles, as Stanford swept six-straight.
Amber Liu defeated Carla Arguelles in number one singles play 6-1, 6-0 while Alice Barnes defeated Robyn Baker at number two singles 6-1, 6-0.
The last match to finish was at number three singles with Kimi Kaloi holding a 3-0 lead in the second set. However, Erin Burdette won the next six to earn a 6-1, 6-3 win. The teams also played a seventh singles that did not count in the scoring.
The Cardinal face No. 43 Pepperdine at Noon on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.
