Stanford Lightweight Women Race Well At The San Diego Crew Classic

On Saturday the Stanford Lightweight Women's Varsity eight won it's Heat in a time of 7:06, five seconds faster than second place University of Central Florida. In the Grand final, in slow and windy conditions, the Cardinal Lightweights raced to a second place finish (their best ever at the Crew Classic) in a time of 7:30, seven seconds behind Wisconsin. In the Petite finals, the Cardinal B boat won in a time of 7:45, eight seconds ahead of UCSD. Head coach Al Acosta commented, "this was a good regatta for us. Both boats are getting better and better with each race. The team is really looking forward to our races on the 17th." Next up for the Cardinal Lightweights is the Knecht Cup Regatta in Cherry Hill, New Jersey on 4/17 and 18. At the Knecht Cup, Stanford will race against at least six of the top ten Lightweight teams in the country.
