Women's 1,600 Meter Relay Team Sets School Record at Arkansas Indoor Invitational

Fayetteville, Ar - The Stanford women's 1,600 meter relay team (Christine Moschella, Janice Davis, Ashley Freeman, Ashley Purnell) shattered the school record during Friday's competition at the Arkansas Tyson Invitational.

Only last week, the 1,600 meter relay set the then school record with a time of 3:38.91 at the New York Armory Invitational. On Friday night in Arkansas, the Stanford women easily beat the school record with a time of 3:34.92. The Cardinal finished second in the competition to Miami which ran a time of 3:32.59.

In other competition on Friday night, the men's distance medley relay team finished third in a time of 9:33.49, an NCAA provisional time and the fifth-best time in school history. Arkansas won the event in the fourth fastest DMR time in the history of collegiate track and field (9:29.25).

In the men's 3,000 meters, Neftalem Araia finished eleventh in a time of 8:14.08.

Competition continues today. Several athletes will also compete at the Husky Classic on Saturday.™
