No. 4 Cardinal Post 8-4 Win Over Texas Tech

Stanford, Calif. - Freshman Tricia Aggabao notched two hits and three RBI as the fourth-ranked Stanford softball team defeated Texas Tech this evening, 8-4, at Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium. The Cardinal improve to 13-1 on the season while the Red Raiders fall to 3-6.

With bases loaded in the top of the first inning, Meghan Sickler drew a walk to score Lauren Lappin. Tricia Aggabao then tripled to right centerfield, scoring Michelle Smith, Leah Nelson and Sickler to make the score, 4-0.

In the top of the fourth inning, a double by Sickler scored Nelson. Then catcher Erin Howe hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield, to score Aggabao and put the Cardinal up 6-2.

Stanford scored two more in the top of the fifth as Sickler tripled to score Nelson. Howe doubled to rightfield two batters later, bringing home Sickler.

Meghan Sickler ended the night with two hits on three at bats with three RBI and three runs scored. Leah Nelson added two hits and three runs scored as well. Freshman Erin Howe picked up two RBI on the night.

Becky McCullough (3-0) picked up the win in relief, going 4.2 innings while allowing only one earned run and five strikeouts. Julie Hauck took the loss for Texas Tech, givin up six runs on three hits over 2.1 innings of work.

Stanford is back in action tomorrow against Auburn at 1 p.m. on the second day of competition at the Stanford Invite.
