Stanford, Calif. - The Princeton Tigers handed the third-ranked Stanford softball teama 2-0 loss this morning at Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium on a rainy Sunday. The Cardinal drop to 18-3 on the year while the Tigers improve to 14-6.
Princeton got on the board first, scoring a single run in the bottom of the first.
The Tigers picked up an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth off of a sacrifice fly.
Erin Snyder (7-2) picked up the win for Princeton, scattering two hits over seven innings of work with five strikeouts. Freshman Lauren Nydam (6-1) took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits over six innings with one strikeout.
Meghan Sickler and Anna Beardman each a one hit for the Cardinal.
Stanford now takes on Utah in a 1 p.m. game to close out play at the Round Robin Tournament.
Utah defeated Princeton, 3-2, in the early morning game.
