Walnut Creek, Ca - Two members of the Stanford men's and women's track & field teams, have been named Pac-10 Athletes of the Week.
Michael Robertson, a junior, set the school record five times in the discus during competition at last weekend's Mt. SAC Relays and the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. At the meet in Pomona, Robertson set a school record with a throw of 199-10 (60.19m) which beat the old mark of 198-7 (60.53m) by Omer Inan in 2002. Two days later, Robertson bettered his own school record four more times with his best throw of 202-5 (61.70m).
Robertson, a transfer from SMU who finished third at the NCAA's last year, now has the best discus throw in the Pac-10 this year.
Sara Bei, a senior, ran the fastest collegiate time of the season in the 5,000 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays. Bei had a season-best time of 15:41.57.
Bei finished second at the NCAA's in the 5,000 meters last year.
Robertson and Bei will compete at this weekend's Big Meet against California at Stanford's Cobb Track & Angell Field. The field events start at 12:50 p.m. with the running events starting at 2:00 p.m.™
