Stanford, Calif. - Stanford University will host the 2005 USA Rugby Collegiate Championships this weekend as the top men's and women's teams compete for the National Championship. The Cardinal women's rugby squad highlights an impressive field of teams from around the country that will compete at the Steuber Rugby Stadium on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, Penn State and Navy will compete in the first Women's Division I semfinal, followed by Stanford and Princeton at noon. At 2 p.m., Cal and Navy will face off in the first Men's Division I semfinal, followed by Utah and Brigham Young at 4 p.m.
On Saturday, the Women's Division II Championship, between Temple and Providence, will kick off the day, with the final set to begin at 10 a.m. The Women's Division I Championship will start at noon, followed by the men's Division II title game, between Northern Colorado and Humboldt State. The Men's Division I Championship will cap the two-day event. The final game is set to begin at 4 p.m.
Last season, the California men won their 20th National Collegiate Championship and Penn State captured the women's title.
