No. 3 Cardinal (12-4, 5-2) defeated the Pacific Tigers (10-12, 2-6) for their fifth conference victory this season. Senior twins Hannah and Kelty Luber combined to score half the team's goals, Hannah contributing three and Kelty contributing four. Junior Nancy El-Sakkary, sophomore Christina Hewko, and freshman standout Megan May each scored two goals for the Cardinal, while freshman Jackie Gauthier and junior Scotti Shafer each scored one.
Stanford started the game with a goal from Hewko at 5:09 in the first quarter, but after a quick timeout Pacific responded with a goal from Meerdink to tie the game at 1-1, making the score too close for comfort for the Cardinal.
Stanford then responded with twelve more goals before Pacific got their second point, thanks in part to a focused defensive team. Cardinal goalie Meridith McColl captured six saves for the game.
The Cardinal head south this weekend to play Arizona State Saturday at noon, and San Diego State Sunday at noon. They will return for the next home game on Friday, April 15th at 7:00 pm against No. 1 UCLA.
