Women's 4 x 800 Meter Relay Team Finishes Second At Texas Relays

Austin, Tx - The Stanford women's 4 x 800 meter relay team captured second place honors on Thursday night at the Texas Relays at the University of Texas.

The Cardinal ran splits of 2:10.8, 2:12.5, 2:09.2 and 2:05.6 in chalking up a time of 8:45.48. Arkansas won the race with a time of 8:38.03.

Competition at the Texas Relays continues through Saturday.

At the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational at UCLA, only one event was scheduled on Thursday, and it was the women's hammer. Sarah Hopping and Katy Elsbury finished 2-3 in the competition. Hopping's best throw was 184-5 (56.21m) while Elsbury checked in at 183-7 (55.95m). Jessica Cosby of UCLA won the event with a throw of 208-5 (63.54m).

Competition at UCLA's Drake Stadium will continue through Saturday.

Stanford will also send a large group of athletes to the Brutus Hamilton Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Berkeley.
