Nicholas Taylor Resides In Sixth Place At Pac-10 Decathlon Championship

Los Angeles, Ca - Nicholas Taylor stands in sixth place after first day (Saturday) competition at the 2005 Pacific-10 Decathlon Championships at UCLA.

Taylor, a senior from Sandy, Utah, chalked up 3,493 points in five events (100 meters, 400 meters, high jump, long jump, shot put).

Taylor began the competition with a day-high 771 points with a time of 11.41 points in the 100 meters. He then added 762 points in the 400 meters.

Darion Powell of Washington State leads the competition with 3,889 points. Robert Arnold of Arizona is second with 3,728 points.

Taylor's career-best is 6,501 points.

Competition in the final five events will be held on Sunday at UCLA's Drake Stadium.
