Redwood City, Calif. - The #14 Stanford Coed Sailors are ready to raise their national ranking with a trip back east to compete in the Navy Fall Intersectional in Annapolis, Maryland this weekend. The #6 Womens Team will head to the Yale Women's intersectional in New Haven, Connecticut.
"The team sailed a great regatta last weekend," commented Head Coach Jay Kehoe, "they are looking to match up to the top east coast teams this weekend."
Last weekend, both Coed and Women sailed the Stoney Burke Intersectional Regatta, earning 3rd and 11th respectively. The annual event is traditionally hosted by Cal at their sailing venue on Treasure Island was moved at the last minute to Stanford due to a scheduling conflict.
At Stoney Burke, Brian Haines '07 and Kelly McKenna '09 earned 2nd in A-Division, ahead of 2005 College Sailor of the Year Mikee Anderson-Mitterling. Sailing B-Division, Eddie Conrad '08 and Anna Vu '06 earned 3rd. The total points put Stanford's Coeds 3rd overall, 3 points behind USC.
The young guns were sailing for the Stanford Women at Stoney Burke; Taylor Grimes '09 and Marianna Beardsworth '08 earned an impressive 5th in A-Division. Carrie Denning '08 and Sarah Schoknecht '08 were 11th in B-Division, putting the Stanford Women in 8th overall.
