Cardinal Drop Tournament Opener to Pacific

Oct. 14, 2005

The Cardinal dropped their tournament opener to the Tigers of Pacific. Pacific secured the match 3-2 with game scores: 25-22, 22-25, 28-30, 25-22, 15-12.

Stanford dropped game one, but came back to win games two and three. Pacific took the final two games by a mere three-point difference in each game.

Senior Ben Reddy was the leader for the Cardinal, as he posted 29 kills and 6 digs. His 29 kills totaled more than half of the 55 kills for the Stanford team. The tournament officials named Reddy Stanford's Player of the Match.

"This opening match was a great opportunity for us to utilize a couple different line-ups," said Head Coach Don Shaw. "We were competitive, even through our missed serves and passing errors. Getting guys game experience is our number one focus for this tournament, and this five-game match allowed us to do just that."

Next up for the Cardinal is the University of Regina, scheduled for tonight at 7pm PST.
