Stanford, Ca - The Oregon State women's volleyball team has never beaten Stanford. That statistic remained in force on Friday night as the fifth-ranked Cardinal scored a 30-14, 30-20, 30-22 decision over the Beavers in a Pacific-10 Conference match.

Stanford now is 42-0 against Oregon State which dates back to the 1981 season.

Junior outside hitter Kristin Richards collected a match-high 19 kills and ten digs. Freshman middle blocker Foluke Akinradewo added 15 kills and six digs.

Stanford hit .381 while the Cardinal defense held OSU to a .093 hitting percentage. It was the ninth time this season that Stanford has held the opposition to a hitting percentage of .100 or less.

Stanford led from start to finish in game one. A quick 5-1 lead grew to 21-11, and then a 7-0 run made it 28-11. A service error by OSU, and a kill by Nji Nnamani ended game one (30-14). Stanford hit .412 compared to .069 for the Beavers.

Oregon State briefly held a 2-1 lead in game two, but the Cardinal then dominated play after that. A 6-1 run put the Cardinal in front at 7-3. However, the Beavers played tough and managed to hold on at 13-14. At 17-16, Stanford expanded the lead to 20-16. Then with the score 25-20 in favor of Stanford, the Cardinal tallied five straight points to win game two.

The Cardinal jumped to a 7-1 lead in game three, and Stanford never looked back. Then at 16-9, Stanford scored five straight points to effectively end the suspense of the game. At 29-22, Akinradewo collected a service ace to end the game (30-20) and the match.

The victory raised Stanford's record to 20-3 overall and 9-2 in the Pac-10. Oregon State fell to 8-9 overall and 4-7 in the conference.
