Waikoloa, Hi. - The Stanford men's golf team moved into ninth place after the second round of the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Hawaii. The Cardinal have a two-day score of 557 after shooting 278 today, one stroke better than Wednesday's mark.
Oklahoma State continues to lead the field with a 42-under par 534. Washington is second (542), followed by USC (543), Georgia Tech (546) and Arkansas (550).
Oklahoma State's Tyler Leon sits atop the individual leaderboard at 14-under par 130. Teammates Ryan Posey (131) and Alex Noren (132) round out the top three. USC's Taylor Wood and Washington's James Lepp are tied for fourth with an 11-under par 133.
Leading the Cardinal charge is Rob Grube, who posted another 67 today, to bring his two-round score to 134. He is tied for sixth overall. Teammate Kyle Gentry is tied for 35th with a four-under par 140, after shooting a 72 today. Senior Kevin Blue is tied for 50th at two-under 142 (72-70) while Pat Phillips fired a 69 to move into a tie for 64th (74-69--143). Stanford's Zack Miller is tied for 72nd with an even-par 144 (72-72).
Winds picked up noticeably from Wednesday with gusts reaching 30 mph, shuffling the scoreboard as only seven of the 21 teams managed lower scores on the second day.
Friday's final round tee times are scheduled for 9 a.m. PST, 7 a.m. local.
