No. 3 Stanford Scores 134-115 victory At Cal State Bakersfield

Bakersfield, Ca - The third-ranked Stanford men's swimming and diving team warmed up for its big Pac-10 showdown with ninth-ranked USC on Saturday with a 134-115 victory over Division II national power Cal State Bakersfield on Friday. The Roadrunners, who finished second at the NCAA's last year, are ranked #1 among Division II schools this year.

The Cardinal swept 14 of the 15 events contested. Freshman Jason Dunford helped lead the way for the Cardinal with victories in the 50 fly (22.25), the 100 fly (48.57) and in swimming the leadoff leg on the 200 free relay (1:20.86). Other double individual winners were Hongzhe Sun in the 50 back (22.89) and the 100 IM (51.06), Shaun Phillips in the 50 free (21.03) and 200 free (1:38.63), and Dwight Dumais in one meter diving (318.97 points) and three-meter diving (311.10).

The Cardinal went 1-2-3 in the 50 breast, the 50 fly, the 400 IM, the 500 free, the 100 IM, the 100 fly and the 100 breast.

Saturday at 1 p.m., the Cardinal travels to USC for a Pac-10 dual meet against the ninth-ranked Trojans.

Stanford's next and final home meet of the 2006 season is on February 18 at 1 p.m. against California.
