No. 4 Stanford Narrowly Falls To No. 6 Penn State, 216.800-216.750

University Park, Penn. - No. 4 Stanford posted team wins on four events tonight, but it wasn't enough to put away No. 6 Penn State who claimed the 216.800-216.750 victory. Junior Alex Schorsch lead the Cardinal squad on the still rings with a season-best 9.700 and an individual win on the event.

Stanford posted a 1-2 finish on the floor exercise, led by sophomore Sho Nakamori with a score of 9.400. Junior Dylan Carney followed with a 9.350.

On the still rings, Schorsch posted his best score of the season with a 9.700, followed by Penn State's Tommy Ramos in second with a 9.650. Stanford's Bryant Hadden was third (9.550), while Peter Derman and David Sender tied for fourth on the event with 9.400.

Sender posted another impressive performance on the vault with a score of 9.500 to win the event. Penn State's Santiago Lopez finished in second with 9.300 and Stanford sophomore Jason Shen was third with 9.250.

Carney claimed the top finish of the evening on the high bar with a stellar 9.650, surpassing his prior season-best of 9.350. Carney was followed by Nate Downs in second (9.450) and Penn State's Derek Hellsby in third (9.350).

Hellsby combined for the highest all-around score with a total of 53.500, while Sender tallied an all-around score of 52.050. Penn State's Matt Cohen finished third for the all-around with a score of 51.450.

The Cardinal returns to action at the Pacific Coast Classic in Oakland this Saturday, February 25 (7:00 pm), featuring teams from Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Oklahoma and Cal.
