Tuscaloosa, Al - The dual meet between the third-ranked Alabama women's gymnastics team and eighth-ranked Stanford came down to the last rotation and the last competitor on Friday night.
Stanford and Alabama were deadlocked going down the line through the last rotation, but the Crimson Tide used a 49.325 on Floor Exercise, punctuated by Ashley Miles' 9.975 to overtake the Cardinal, which scored a 48.850 on Beam. Alabama beat Stanford, 196.250 - 195.850 to end Stanford's six meet winning streak. Stanford fell to 12-3 overall, and 6-2 in dual meets. Alabama is 13-1 overall and 5-1 in dual meet competition.
Stanford won the Bars competition with a score of 49.125 compared to Alabama with 48.950. Sophomore Liz Tricase, ranked #1 in the nation on Bars, won the individual competition (9.875) while teammate Tabitha Yim placed second (9.850). Yim won on Beam (9.850).
Stanford will rest before the Pacific-10 Championships on March 25 at Oregon State. Stanford will host the NCAA West Regional on April 8 (6 p.m.) at Maples Pavilion.
