Stanford Drops MPSF Match to No. 3 Hawai'i, 3-0

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford dropped their MPSF match tonight to No. 3 Hawai'i 3-0 at Burnham Pavilion. The Warriors swept the Cardinal with game scores of 30-20, 30-19, and 30-21. With the loss, Stanford's record falls to 4-19 overall and 2-15 in the MPSF. Hawai'i improves to 18-4 overall and 13-3 in conference play.

In game one, the Warriors hit .542, while the Cardinal hit only .133. Senior outside hitter Jose Delgado led the way for Hawai'i, pounding out ten kills with a .556 hitting percentage. Stanford was led by senior middle blocker Chris Ahlfeldt who notched four kills, and senior setter Jeremy Jacobs who dished out nine assists, while also recording two kills of his own.

Hawai'i remained in control through game two and again was led by Delgado who notched four kills and one service ace. For the Cardinal, sophomore outside hitter Jesse Meredith notched three kills.

In game three the Cardinal stayed close through the early points, but Hawai'i was again able to close out the game, and the match, with a comfortable lead. Stanford was led by senior opposite Ben Reddy who pounded out six kills, and Ahlfeldt who added another four kills.

Delgado led all hitters for the night with 12 kills and a .400 hitting percentage, and Warrior junior outside hitter Lauri Hakala led the match with four service aces. Reddy led the Cardinal with ten kills and one service ace.

Stanford will host No. 3 Hawai'i again tomorrow night. The match will be held in Burnham Pavilion and will begin at 7 p.m.
