Pasadena, Ca - Will Hindle-Katel, J.J. Garton and Drac Wigo each scored two goals apiece but it wasn't enough as the third-ranked UCLA men's water polo team scored a 10-8 victory over sixth-ranked Stanford in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game on Saturday afternoon at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center.
Stanford and UCLA exchanged goals in the first period, which ended in a 2-2 deadlock. The Bruins raced to a 5-2 advantage with 3:05 remaining in the second quarter and never relinquished the lead.
The Cardinal reduced UCLA's lead to 7-6 after Hindle-Katel scored at 6:45 of the third quarter. After UCLA's Brad Greiner gave UCLA a two-goal advantage at 4:46, Drac Wigo registered a goal at 4:23, reducing UCLA's lead to 8-7.
UCLA led, 9-7, after three periods, and added an insurance goal with 7:18 to play. Stanford got as close as two goals when Hindle-Katel scored his second goal of the game with 3:35 to play.
The third straight loss dropped Stanford to 5-4 overall. UCLA is 6-1.
