Stanford, Calif. - No. 3 Stanford (16-2, 7-1) downed Oregon State (3-14, 0-8) tonight in three games, 30-19, 30-17, 30-20. Sophomore outside hitter Cynthia Barboza collected 20 kills as the Cardinal tallied a sixth-straight Pac-10 win and 43rd-straight victory over the Beavers. Sophomore Erin Waller followed with 11 kills, while junior Franci Girard added eight kills. Freshman Janet Okogbaa also recorded a career-high six kills against Oregon State.

Stanford used a 4-0 run to pull ahead early in game one off of kills by Girard, Barboza, and junior setter Bryn Kehoe. Brittany Cahoon registered two kills for the Beavers to hang within two points, but four more kills provided a 4-2 streak for the Cardinal. The Beavers pulled out their own 3-1 run on kills by Lexie Rathgeber and Rachel Rourke, but Waller ended the run with a kill in the middle, 10-7. OSU pulled within a point on an attacking error, but Stanford gapped the Beavers with a 5-0 run, including a kill and block solo from Barboza in the middle, 16-10. Barboza later served up an ace to spur a 5-1 streak, putting the Cardinal up, 21-12. A quick kill from sophomore Foluke Akinradewo on the right side put the score at 22-14, leading Stanford on a 3-1 run. An attacking error put the Cardinal within a point of the win, then another wide attack cinched game one for the Cardinal, 30-19.

Akinradewo opened game two with a powerful kill down the middle, kicking off a 3-1 run for the Cardinal. Rathgeber tallied a kill for the Beavers, 4-3, but two kills and an ace from Barboza kicked off another 5-0 Stanford streak. The Beavers logged back-to-back points on a Cardinal error and a kill by Kristin Murray, 9-5, but kills from Girard and Waller led the Cardinal on a 3-0 run. Okogbaa later collected her first kill of the game as Stanford gapped Oregon State, 15-6. OSU's Ashley Evans collected the Beavers' first ace of the game, 18-11, but Barboza's kill down the left line kicked off another 4-1 Cardinal run. Following an Oregon State timeout, the Beavers' Cahoon registered a kill, but Okogbaa followed with two of her own kills on the right side to lead Stanford on a 5-1 streak, 27-14. A kill from Waller on the left side and a quick tip from Kehoe put Stanford near the win, then a cross-court kill by Barboza ended game two, 30-17.

In game three, the Cardinal jumped to an early lead on a ball-handling error. Oregon State's Abby Windell followed with a kill, but Stanford pulled out a 10-0 run to gap the Beavers, including an ace by Akinradewo. The Beavers rallied a 2-0 streak on block and kill by Murray, but Barboza's kill ended the run, 12-3. Okogbaa tallied another kill from the right side and Barboza smacked a quick kill inside the ten-foot line to put Stanford up, 14-3. OSU's Rathgeber registered a kill as the Beavers rebounded with a 6-1 run. Waller then pounded a kill down the left line to lead Stanford on its own 4-1 streak, including senior Lizzie Suiter's first kill of the season, 20-11. Suiter then added her first ace of the season as the Cardinal continued to pull away, 22-13. Another quick kill from Barboza and a block from Okogbaa and senior Michelle Mellard put Stanford up, 26-15. Back-to-back points on an Okogbaa kill and a block by Suiter and Waller put Stanford near matchpoint, 28-16. The Cardinal claimed the game and the match on a kill by Waller, 30-20.

Kehoe led the Cardinal with 30 assists, followed by freshman Joanna Evans with 10 assists. Barboza paced the squad with 14 digs, followed by Waller with 11 digs and sophomore libero Jessica Fishburn with eight digs. Barboza and Akinradewo each had two of Stanford's seven service aces.

The Cardinal returns to action tomorrow night against Oregon at 7:00 pm in Maples Pavilion.
