Shaun Phillips Captures 500 Free At Texas Invitational

Austin, Tx - Shaun Phillips captured top honors in the 500 free to highlight Stanford's activities during first day competition on Thursday night at the Texas Invitational.

Phillips, the school record holder, finished in a season-best and NCAA qualifying time of 4:16.31. Another Cardinal winner was sophomore Dwight Dumais, who captured the one-meter diving event with a score of 339.70. Dumais, a two-time All-American, had a preliminary score of 360.55 points.

In other Stanford events involving Stanford swimmers, Jason Dunford competed in the 100 fly and his fourth place finish of 47.43 was a season-best. Ben Wildman-Tobriner was Stanford's top finisher in the 50 free with a third place time of 19.79, a season-best. Hongzhe Sun chalked up a season-best and NCAA qualifying time of 1:46.19 in the 200 IM to place second in the event.
