Box Score

The Stanford Cardinal go home winless this weekend as they dropped their second match to IPFW in three games, 26-30, 28-30, 24-30. The loss puts Stanford 0-9 for the season thus far, as the Mastodons improve to 6-0.

Game one started as a consistent side out game for both teams. IPFW began to pull away when they were up 19-17 off of a kill by C.J. Macias. The Mastodons scored three consecutive points until Freshman Evan Romero ended their streak with a kill from the right side. After a service error by the Cardinal, a kill by Romero still wasn't enough for the win, as IPFW finished the game with a service ace, 30-26.

Game two was dominated on the service line, as Stanford and IPFW had multiple service aces and errors. Matt Ceran had two aces for the game and Brian Skinner had one. The game had an outstanding offensive showing from both Evan Romero and Brandon Williams. Romero had 6 of his 17 kills in game two while Williams had 7 of his 12 kills.

Both teams battled for possession in game three. A 5 point run for the Mastodons at 16-15 gave them the advantage. Stanford capitalized on two service errors and an attack error, but it wasn't enough as IPFW ended the match with a game score of 30-24.

Stanford finished the match hitting .245 as a team. Evan Romero and Brandon Williams did well offensively. Romero had 17 kills for the match and Williams totaled 12 kills, hitting .800 . Jarod Kellor had 9 digs for the night and Kawika Shoji finished with 45 assists.
