Two Stanford Track And Field Athletes Compete At Cal Multis

Stanford track and field sent two competitors to the two day Cal Multis in Berkeley, CA. Kara Bennett is competing in the women's heptathlon, while Josh Hustedt is taking part in the men's decathlon. The two athletes combined for three first place finishes on the first day of competition.

Kara Bennett took first place in the high jump as she recorded a mark of 1.70 meters. She also placed ninth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.76, fourth in the shot put with a mark of 10.19 meters, and 11 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.14. Bennett sits in seventh place overall in the heptathlon with 2565 points after the first day of competition.

Josh Hustedt captured first place in the long jump with his leap of 7.23 meters, while also taking the top spot in the high jump with a mark of 2.06 meters. He also claimed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.99, ninth in the shot put with his mark of 11.56 meters, and third in the 400 meter dash with a 50.37. After the first day of events, Hustedt holds the lead in the decathlon with his score of 3969 points.

The second and final day of the meet begins tomorrow, Thursday, with the men's 110-meter hurdles at 10 a.m. The last event of the meet is the men's 1,500 meters scheduled for 4:10 p.m.
