Track And Field Concludes Successful Competition At California Collegiate Challenge

Stanford track and field concluded their two-day competition at the California Collegiate Challenge as they post eight more NCAA Regional Qualifying Marks. Over the past two days, the Cardinal has produced 12 qualifying marks as they use this meet to prepare for tomorrow's Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational.

For the men, Michael Macellari took third place in the shot put as he posted a season best and NCAA Regional Qualifying Mark of 57-00 ¾ (17.39m), moving into ninth all time at Stanford. In the triple jump, Feranmi Okanlami took second place with his NCAA Regional Qualifying Mark of 49-06 ¼ (15.90m).

On the women's side, Danielle Maier captured first place in the Javelin throw as she recorded an NCAA Regional Qualifying Mark of 154-11 (47.21m). In the 100 meter dash it was Janice Davis leading the way for the Cardinal with her fourth place finish with a season best and NCAA Regional Qualifying Time of 11.60. Sarah Matthew took sixth place in the event, as she too posted an NCAA Regional Qualifying Time of 11.74. The 800 meter run saw Ashley Freeman earn a third place finish with an NCAA Regional Qualifying Time of 2:07.14. In the 200 meter dash, Janice Davis finished fifth as she posted an NCAA Regional Qualifying Mark of 23.73. Michaela Wallerstedt posted a third place finish in the shot put as she earned an NCAA Regional Qualifying Mark with her throw of 47-10 (14.58m).

The team returns to action tomorrow, April 29 as they head back to Stanford for the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational. With so many world class and international athletes competing, it is sure to be a very exciting meet.
