STANFORD PREPARES FOR POSTSEASON ACTION: The No. 2 Stanford men's golf team travels to Tempe, Arizona, May 17-19, for the 2007 NCAA West Regional, held at the Karsten Golf Course (par 72, 7,057 yards). The 27 teams and six individuals will play 18 holes each day.

PARTICIPANTS: In order of seeding, the field includes: 1. Stanford, 2. UCLA, 3. UNLV, 4. USC, 5. East Tennessee State, 6. Brigham Young, 7. Arizona State, 8. Wake Forest, 9. Arizona, 10. UC Irvine, 11. South Carolina, 12. Washington, 13. Vanderbilt, 14. Augustana State, 15. Pepperdine, 16. San Diego State, 17. New Mexico, 18. Oregon State, 19. Colorado State, 20. Oregon, 21. California, 22. Nevada, 23. Denver, 24. Pennsylvania, 25. Detroit, 26. Bucknell, 27. Monmouth. Individuals: Brian Locke, LMU, 2. Dustin Pimm, Utah 3. Darrin Hall, San Diego 4. Michale McRae, St. Mary's 5. Geoff Gonzalez, Cal Poly 6. Thomas Petersson, Pacific.

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS: The top 10 teams and top two individuals not on those teams will advance to the 2007 NCAA Championships held in Williamsburg, Va., May 30-June 2 at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club (hosted by Virginia Commonwealth).

ADMISSION: Admission is free to the event, as practice rounds begin on Wednesday at 7 a.m.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE:

*Wednesday, May 16: Practice rounds from 7 a.m. to 11:40 p.m. in order of seed.

*Thursday, May 17: First round, play begins at 6:30 a.m. from both No. 1 and No. 10 tees and the last group tees at 1:13 p.m.

*Friday, May 18: Second round, play begins at 6:30 a.m. from both No. 1 and No. 10 tees and the last group tees at 1:07 p.m.

*Saturday, May 19: Third and final round, play begins at 6:30 a.m. from both No. 1 and No. 10 tees (Last group at 1:07 p.m., leaders tee off early)

PAC-10 COACH OF THE YEAR: Cardinal head coach Conrad Ray was tabbed Pac-10 Coach of the Year last month directing a remarkable resurgence in Stanford golf. Ray has guided the Cardinal to 11 top 5 finishes in 11 touranments this year, including six victories - the most for a Stanford team since the Tiger Woods era. The Cardinal wins this season include: The Gopher Invitational, The Prestige, The Cordevalle Classic, UH Hilo Invitational, USC Collegiate Invitational and the U.S. Intercollegiate.

PAC-10 HONORS: A total of five Stanford student-athletes were honored with all-conference honors this season. Seniors Zack Miller and Matt Savage, along with junior Rob Grube were first-team All-Pac-10 selections. Freshman Joseph Bramlett was a second-team pick while sophomore Daniel Lim received honorable mention honors.

LAST YEAR AT REGIONALS: The Stanford golf team finished 14th last year at the NCAA West Regional, held in Tucson, Arizona. The Cardinal shot a three-round score of four-under par 860.

CARDINAL NOTES: Stanford's six tournament victories is the most since the Tiger Woods era in the mid `90's ... The Cardinal team is one of the deepest in the country as three different Stanford golfers have won a tournament this year (Rob Grube, Zack Miller and Joseph Bramlett). Every member of the team has competed in an event this year ... The nationally ranked Stanford golf team won its sixth tournament of the season with a victory at the U.S. Intercollegiate in Stanford, Calif. ... Stanford has recorded six first place finishes, two second place finishes, one fourth place finish and two fifth place finishes this season.
