Colorado Springs, Colo. - Stanford newcomers Alix Klineman and Cassidy Lichtman were among the 12 players named to the 2007 U.S. Women's Junior National Team announced USA Volleyball this week. Klineman and Lichtman, who have both committed to play for the Cardinal in 2007-08, were both among the final selections when the 24-player training camp roster was narrowed to 12 this weekend.

Klineman was a member of the 2006 NORCECA gold-medal winning team and is one of six returning players on the roster, while Lichtman is a first-time selection. The pair comes to the Farm with a long list of regional and national honors, and Klineman was named the 2006-07 Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year in February.

The 12 players selected for the U.S. Women's Junior National Team will represent Team USA at the FIVB U-20 World Championships held July 19-27 in Nakhonratchasima, Thailand. The dozen players will train in Colorado Springs at the U.S. Olympic Training Center approximately July 5-16 in preparation for the World Championships. Prior to leaving for Thailand, the U.S. Women's Junior National Team will train alongside and scrimmage members of the U.S. Women's National Team who will not compete in the Pan American Games held July 14-19 in Brazil.
