Alissa Haber Named a Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American

May 30, 2007

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford freshman Alissa Haber was named to the 2007 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America Third Team, when the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the Division I selections today. Haber is the 12th Stanford player to be named an All-American, and earned the 22nd overall honor for the program.

Haber, an All-Pac-10 and All-Region selection, closed out an impressive freshman campaign last week, after emerging as one of the top offensive players in the Pac-10. The Newark, Calif. native led the team in nearly every offensive category with a .365 batting average, 65 hits, 40 runs, 15 doubles, two triples, a .539 slugging percentage and a .455 on-base percentage. She was also one of the top three players on the squad with four homeruns, 23 RBI and four stolen bases. Her marks in batting average and doubles both ranked among the top-10 single-season marks in program history.

Haber was one of 11 All-Americans from the Pac-10 conference, and was selected as an at-large outfielder. Stanford has placed at least one player on an All-America team in each of the last ten years. Haber is just the fifth freshman All-American in program history, following the footsteps of Jessica Mendoza (1999), Dana Sorensen (2000), Catalina Morris (2003) and Michelle Smith (2005).
