STANFORD, Calif.- After the opening day of competition at The Stanford Intercollegiate, Stanford stands in a tie for 13th place after shooting a 25-over-par 309 on Friday afternoon.

In a challenging 18-team field that includes 11 schools currently ranked among the nation's top-30 according to Golfweek, No. 2 Duke owns the lead with a 2-under-par 282, nine strokes ahead of No. 1 UCLA at 291 and 11 strokes in front of No. 4 Arizona State at 293.

Three schools (California, Georgia and Arizona) are tied for fourth overall, shooting a 12-over-par 296.

Junior Mari Chun finds herself in second place, shooting a 3-over-par 68 that represented the lowest round for any Cardinal player this year. Chun is a couple strokes off the pace from Duke's Amanda Blumenhurst, who fired a 5-over-par 66 to take opening day honors.

A five-way tie for third place at 2-over-par 69 includes the following participants: Stacy Lewis of Arkansas, Glory Yang of UCLA, Jennie Lee of Duke, Jodi Ewart of New Mexico and Kendra Little of Oregon.

Freshman Piper Miller, playing as an individual, owned the next-best Cardinal score with a 7-over-par 78 as she is tied for 53rd. Fellow rookie Rebecca Durham is tied for 62nd following an 8-over-par 79 in her first round.

Sophomore Catherina Wang checked in a tie for 69th, shooting a 9-over-par 80 while sophomore Angela King is tied for 77th after posting an 11-over-par 82.

Junior Ki-Shui Liao is tied for 80th with a 12-overp-ar 83. Senior Saana Rapakko carded an 18-over-par 89 to place 93rd while playing as an individual.
