FOOTBALL POST-GAME QUOTES
Stanford 21, at Arizona 20 (Tucson, AZ - Arizona Stadium)
October 20, 2007

STANFORD
HEAD COACH JIM HARBAUGH
On The Game
"Our guys hung in there. First of all, there's no such thing as an ugly win, but too many penalties, too many turnovers, but our guys found a way to win. Found a way."

On Big Defensive Plays
"Sanchez' interception gave us momentum offensively early in the game in the second quarter and then the two fourth down stops were key to the game. They set up our second touchdown and then preserved the win towards the win."

On The Play Of Jason Evans And Tyrone McGraw
"I got a lot from both of them, especially Evans. His vision was really good. He was seeing holes. He was seeing the cutback. McGraw did a job. He had the fumble that was bad but after that he settled down and played good football."

On Stanford's Progress As A Team
"Their mindset is they just go out and play. The only thing we really concern ourselves with is how they play. They're playing hard, and they're playing all out. They're playing confident."

QUARTERBACK TAVITA PRITCHARD
On Keeping His Composure After His Two Third Quarter Interceptions
"It's the same thing as when things are going good. You just have to kind of stay kind of even-keel the entire time. You can never get too excited or too down. With football left to play, you always just have to stay the same and then just leave those guys out there no matter what."

On The Team's Road Success
"I think we like hostile environments. It brings you together. It really unifies a team coming into a hostile environment with people chirping. Guys were just sticking together and doing it as a team."

On The Offense Line
"The line really stepped up and did well, and played physical."

CORNERBACK NICK SANCHEZ
On The Win Over Arizona
"This is a huge win for us. All sides of the ball contributed - offense, defensive and special teams. Hopefully, we'll keep this momentum going next week when we play Oregon State."

On His Forced Fumble Late In The Fourth Quarter
"They threw it short; they had been doing it all game, so I was ready for it. I came up, I hit, and I just tried to pull it out. The next you know the ball came out, and I see a bunch of guys jump on it."

On His Feelings After The Win
"We fought our hearts out today; we left it all out on the field and this week it turned out in our favor. It's hard to explain. It feels great."

On The Mindset After Last Saturday's Victory At USC
"We came out on Monday of this week and stopped talking about last week [against USC] and started to focus on TCU. We tried our hardest to just forget about last week and just focus on this game, but we didn't perform the way we need to today."

On The Preparation For The Arizona Game
"We focused hard this week. We knew we were just going to have to make some plays this week. This week the ball bounced our way, we made some places, and that helped us get a win."

On Two Late Fourth Quarter Defensive Stops
"It was huge. Obviously, we didn't play perfect. We gave up big plays here and there. There are a few assignments that needed to get cleared up, but when it came down to it, we made the plays and that's why we won.

OUTSIDE LINEBACKER CLINTON SNYDER
On The Team's Road Success
"I wish we would play like that all over the place. The thing that I keep coming back to is it's us against the world. When we come over here, we've got a little fan section and that's it. It's just our team versus Arizona, so we have to come together as a team and play as a team on these road games. It's awesome."

On Being Able To Bounce Back After The TCU Loss
"We would have liked to have kept it going against TCU, but we bounced this weekend and got that win. We've got to keep it rolling and string some wins together."

On Responding To Three Third Quarter Offensive Turnovers
"We love those sudden changes on defense. That's what shows what great defenses are all about when you come in there on a sudden change on your side of the field and shut them down by holding to a field goal or holding them to nothing. That's what we did in the second half. It was awesome."

RUNNING BACK JASON EVANS
On The Team's Play
"I felt like we played pretty well tonight. The running game didn't slack at all. The O-line played their heart out. They blocked everybody. The holes were giant. I couldn't ask for any more, coming in and trying to replace Anthony [Kimble] and [Jeremy] Stewart."

On The Team Keeping It's Composure During A Difficult Third Quarter
"It's not the first team we've been doing. In the USC game, we were down in the fourth quarter and came back. This game, we were down and came back. It wasn't the first time we've been down. We've been through it. Our team's come along to be a veteran team by now. We're over halfway through the season and this team knows what we've got."

On The Team's Road Success
"It's the white jerseys and the red pants. It seems to be something magic clicking there with the red pants ... I think we'll be wearing red pants from here on out."

RUNNING BACK JEREMY STEWART
"When they sent me in on the one-yard line, I was mainly just worried about getting in the end zone. I could worry about the injury after that, the touchdown first."

DEFENSIVE END UDEME UDOFIA
On The Team's Defense
"We just ran to the ball. We knew every defense was going to give up plays, but we were just trying to give great effort out there and get 11 guys flying to the ball the whole game. That's what we did all game, and we stopped a lot of big plays from unfolding."

On Coming Home To Arizona
"It's always nice to come home. I'm a bit excited. You have a few extra family members and friends that attend the game, so it's always nice to come back home."

On The Maturation Of The 2007 Stanford Team
"We're growing up a lot. We're trying to bring the young guys along and change the culture around here. For the guys who are just learning how to win again, it's been a while since there's been a great Stanford team, and we're on our way to restoring that legacy that our program once had. I'm proud of the guys on the team."

Oregon State Quotes

Head Coach Mike Riley

Opening Statement ...
"It was a very good win for our team tonight. A hard-playing Stanford team had won games like this before. They hung around with USC for a long time, and won it in the end, and they hung around with Arizona and ended up winning it. That was a vivid memory in my mind as the game went on, but our team kept playing well."

On holding Stanford to 5 yards rushing ...
"Usually if you hold a team to five rushing yards, you end up winning the game."

On the team effort ...
"All of the guys played really well. We are playing without three of our best players, Sammie Stroughter, Jeremy Perry, Yvenson Bernard (tonight after first half), and our starting left tackle, but they did a good job stepping in and playing, and that's why they are here. That's what they need to do, and that's what they are expected to do."

On the defensive effort ...
"The defensive coaching staff did a great job tonight; we stayed on top of them. Our players, particularly our cornerbacks, they went after them tonight, and they played with a lot of awareness and passion. I'm excited about this week coming up and the preparation."

Sean Canfield
On the game ...

"Yeah it wasn't the cleanest game, a little scrappy on the offense. Stanford had a great defense and brought a lot of pressure, it was good for us to get as many rushing yards as we did. Our defense held in. Getting the 5 rushing yards that was big, too."

On 5 yards rushing for Stanford ...
"I don't know what we are defensively, we are up there. Our defense comes to play every week. It's really big for us. The offensive did a good job picking up the blitzes."

On playing safe ...
"It's big having the defense play like that because it relieves the pressure from the offense. Not turning the ball over is the biggest thing because you know the defense is going to be there. Obviously, in the end, we were trying to run the clock out."

Derrick Doggett
On playing defense against the run ...

"As a defense, we don't want anyone to run the ball on us. We take pride when we can stop the run."

On the blocked field goal ...
"Coaches told us that we were going to get one all week and they called blocked left. I just got a good jump on the snap, and put a hand on it."

On comparison to last season ...
"It feels a lot like last season. Like last season, we never have given up on this year. We've lost a couple of games but we keep playing hard and trying to get better every week."
