Windermere, Fla. - Freshman Sihwan Kim finished under par for the second-straight day and the eighth-ranked Stanford men's golf team finished the second day of the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Fla. in eighth place. For the second day in a row, Stanford shot a three-over-par 291 and heads into tomorrow's final round at six-over 582.
Georgia stormed back from the bottom half of the field, and took over the lead today with a 13-under 275 in the second round. The Bulldogs (-10, 566) lead second place Wake Forest (-6, 570) by four strokes. USC (-5, 571), Oklahoma State (-3, 573) and Clemson (+1, 577) round out the top five, while UCF (+2, 578) and Georgia Tech (+5, 581) remain in front the of eighth-place Cardinal.
Known as one of the most prestigious tournaments in collegiate golf, the current field includes 16 2007 NCAA participants, 14 top-50 teams and six members of the current top-10.
Kim led Stanford with a 71 for the second day in a row, marking the fifth under par round of his young career. The freshman is tied for 12th going into tomorrow's final round at two-under 142.
Sophomore Jordan Cox carded a par 72 in the second round and is tied for 27th at 145 (73-72), while sophomore Joseph Bramlett is tied for 34th with a 146 (73-73). Senior Rob Grube is tied for 59th with a 149 (74-75) and junior Dodge Kemmer rounds out the field in a tie for 73rd with a 154 (79-75).
Rickie Fowler (72-66) of Oklahoma State and Jamie Lovemark (68-70) of USC lead the field at six-under 138.
The teams will play 18 final holes tomorrow at the par-72, 7,449-yard Isleworth Country Club in Windermere, Fla. Stanford tees off with the opening group at 8 a.m.
