STANFORD QUOTES

Head Coach Jim Harbaugh

On running the ball ...

"We obviously didn't block as well as we are capable and I give their defense a lot of credit in being very effective in shooting down the run."

On OSU's defense ...

"I think that they are pretty darn good. They are right up there with USC and Arizona State."

On what makes OSU's defense so good ...

"Well they're good in the box. And their corners do a nice job. They get away with a lot of holding out there, but they do a nice job. And I'm sure that is how they are taught and they do a good job of playing man to man on the outside and getting their safeties involved in the running game. They get a lot of people to stop the run. It's basically what we're trying to do on our defense. Stop the run and create turnovers and sacks."

On Stanford's defense ...

"I thought the defense played well, and special teams, too. In the end, we couldn't run the ball and we couldn't protect the passer well enough."

WR Richard Sherman

On going against OSU's defense ...

"I didn't feel like we were one dimensional. We had some good run plays. We got some first downs with the running game. They kept running the same coverage no matter what we were doing so it really didn't affect anything."

On the mistakes on offense ...

"It wasn't really mistakes, it was the plays that we didn't make. They were there to be made ... we just didn't make the plays."

LB Clinton Snyder

On his thoughts on the game ...

"We gave them a lot early in the game. They got up by 14 on us, but I really don't feel like they did it to us. We were making mistakes. They got that reverse on us, they got a couple of screens where we had missed tackles and we were out-leveraged. I think we came back in the second half and fought hard and stopped them on those short fields a couple times."

On the defense being on the field a lot ...

"We don't really think about it like that. We just go out on the field every time and take the opportunity to become better as a defense."

On how important this game was ...

"We really wanted to win this game bad. We just need to come back next week, have a good week of practice and beat Washington at home."
