STANFORD, Calif.- Landry Fields scored a game-high 23 points off the bench to lead four Cardinal players in double-figures as Stanford cruised past The College of Idaho 81-53 on Sunday night in an exhibition game at Maples Pavilion.
Robin Lopez added 15 points while Lawrence Hill and Taj Finger both chipped in with 10. Lopez also snagged a team-best nine rebounds, helping the taller, physical Cardinal hold a commanding 38-18 advantage on the glass.
Stanford also shot 52.4-percent from the field, including a 65.4-percent performance in the second half. The Cardinal knocked down 6-11 three-point attempts over the final 20 minutes and was 11-24 from beyond the arc overall.
The Cardinal also dished out 18 assists, racked up 12 steals and held a double-digit lead for the entire second half.
The College of Idaho was led by Josh Owen, who poured in 12 points on 5-9 shooting in 35 minutes. He was the only player to reach double-figures in scoring for the visitors.
The Coyotes hung around early on, as the game was tied three times in the first 10 minutes. Leading 19-18 at the 8:02 mark, Stanford stretched its lead to six at 26-20 before a triple from Bryan Champ made it 26-23 with 4:18 remaining in the first half.
Stanford embarked on a 13-2 scoring run over the final four minutes, taking a 39-25 lead into the break.
The second half was all Stanford. Drew Shiller's second three-pointer of the night gave the Cardinal its first 20-point lead at 56-35 with 12:24 left to play.
Stanford maintained a 20-point edge until a trey from Steffen Spinks cut the lead to 70-51 at the 4:55 mark.
An 11-2 scoring run by the Cardinal iced the victory.
Statistics from Sunday's game do not count toward regular season totals. Tonight's contest was the second of two home exhibition games this year, as Stanford defeated Concordia University 82-70 back on Nov. 5.
The regular season resumes Wednesday, Dec. 19, when Stanford welcomes Santa Clara to Maples Pavilion for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. Later in the week, the Cardinal squares off against Texas Tech in Dallas, Texas, before the holiday break.
