Fresno State:
Head Coach, Margie Wright: "It was a great win for us, Robin [Mackin] and Nichole [Willis] did a great job tonight. We got some timely hits and it was a tough battle. The whole game it was a battle and I'm very proud of our team and how we hung in there and just kept the pressure on every inning."
"This is the time of the year when you want to have pitching performances like that. I think Robin responded and did a great job and Nichole did a great job behind the plate. I can't say enough, even when they got runners in scoring position. She really just did her job and clutched up and got the outs when she needed to."
Soph. Pitcher Robin Mackin: "I really felt like our team did a very good job of controlling the game. So anytime they did get any sort of momentum there was a big defensive play or we got the timely hit."
Senior Catcher, Nichole Willis: "She [Robin] did awesome. She always rises to the occasion. She hit her spots right where they needed to be. Stanford is a great hitting team, they can score runs when they need to and Robin did a great job of placing her pitches."
Stanford:
Head Coach, John Rittman: "It was a typical post season game. That first one out of the sheet is always the toughest, you have jitters, you have freshmen who have never been in those types of game, anything can really happen. Early in the game, I think once things settled down, you got to see the true identity of both teams. Tonight I think you saw two very good pitchers going at it. It was a game that was really decided on a bases-loaded no-out inning, and I thought our pitcher did a great job of getting out of that. We got some ground balls and we just couldn't make plays at the plate."
"Offensively we had opportunities and just didn't get the timely hits."
Junior Third-baseman Michelle Smith: "She [Mackin] throws hard and has good movement and a mix of pitches. We needed to make better adjustments. We hit too many balls in the air and we'll just have to make an adjustment next time we face her."
