Camden, N.J. - The Stanford Lightweight Eight finished fifth in the Grand Final of the IRA National Championship held Saturday on the Cooper River. Bucknell won the event in 6:36.096, followed by Princeton (6:39.543), Wisconsin (6:40.500), Radcliffe (6:43.405), Stanford (6:44.088) and Georgetown (6:47.503).
Stanford's boat included Coxswain Jessica Weigel, Stroke Meredith Coleman, Jennie Morawetz, Erin Conlon, Kathy Altman, Alex Liptsey-Rahe, Anne Stake, Kate Hayes and bow Olivia Prevost.
"Bucknell raced an awesome race, congratulations to them," said Stanford head coach Al Acosta. "We got better with each race, and it was great that we put together our best and fastest race of the season in the Grand Finals of our national championship. I couldn't be more proud of our team."
The lightweights are next headed to England for the Henley Women's Regatta. (June 22-24, 2007). Stanford will be racing in the Women's Eight andWomen's Four events.
