STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford Men's Gymnastics team defeated 14th-ranked Nebraska and fourth-ranked California tonight at Burnham Pavilion to win the Stanford Open. The Cardinal took first place in three events en route to a 361.350-333.850 victory over the Cornhuskers and a 361.350-357.900 win over the Golden Bears. The total team score of 361.350 is the highest score recorded by an NCAA team this year.

The Cardinal's victory was aided by their domination in the vault event, taking first (David Sender and Alex Buscaglia), second (Josh Dixon), and third (Greg Ter-Zakhariants) and by outstanding individual performances.

Sender once again shined for the Cardinal taking the outright title in high bar with a score of 15.500. Sender shared titles with Buscaglia in vault (15.850) and with Ter-Zakhariants in floor exercise (15.650). Sender also took second in rings (15.450). Sender's superb performance put him first in all-around (90.950) above Stanford's Sho Nakamori, Nebraska's Stephen Tetrault, and Cal's Kyson Bunthuwong.

Nakamori finished second in floor exercise (15.250) and parallel bars (15.600). His finishes were good enough to give him second place behind Sender in all-around with a total of 89.400.

Also, junior Bryant Hadden took third in pommel horse and senior Dylan Carney took second in high bar.

The Cardinal will have two weeks off from competition and will next compete in the Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas, Nev.
