Stanford Grand Prix Set For Friday-Sunday

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford University will welcome some of the nation's best swimmers as the Avery Aquatic Center will act as one of two host sites for the Toyota Grand Prix series. The Grand Prix events are a warm up for the 2008 Olympic Trials, which will take place in Omaha, Nebraska from June 29 to July 6.

Among the top swimmers scheduled to attend the Stanford Grand Prix will be Stanford alum and World Championship team member Tara Kirk, fellow World Championship team members World Record holder Natalie Coughlin and Kim Vandenberg. Olympians Klete Keller, Jason Lezak, Amanda Beard and Dana Kirk will also be in attendance.

Coughlin returns to action after breaking her own World Record in the 100 backstroke at the last stop of the Grand Prix circuit, held at the University of Missouri in February. Both the Stanford men's and women's swimming teams will return to action after each earned a third place finish at their respective NCAA Championships.

The meet will begin Friday, April 4, with prelims starting at 9 am and finals starting at 5 pm each day. All session passes are available for $25, while individual prelim tickets are on sale for $5 and finals session tickets are $8.
